Loutraki
Loutraki is a city in the prefecture of Corinth. It is 84 km from Athens and 4 from Corinth.
It is a recognized spa town since 1925, a tourist resort known for its thermal baths, mineral waters, and casino. It is bathed by the Corinthian gulf, and is the seat of the municipality of Loutraki-Agios Theodoros, while above the city dominate the Geraneia mountains. It is located in the geographical region of Peloponnese.
Vouliagmeni Lake
Lake Vouliagmeni is a lagoon located 16 km northwest of Loutraki, very close to the area of the archaeological site of Heraion and the settlement of Perachora. It has a maximum length of 2 km and a maximum width of about 1 km. Its depth does not exceed 40 meters. It has a sandy beach in contrast to the beach of Loutraki. It communicates with the waters of the Corinthian gulf through a very narrow canal whose width does not exceed 6 meters. The sea enters from this opening into the lake with momentum forming a vortex. It seems that there is an underground tunnel that collects water. The sea descends to the inside of the lake like a river, carrying tons of water.
Heraion
Heraion Perachora is located on the Perachora peninsula, north of the Corinthian Gulf, at the western end of the Geraneia mountain range. The place has been called Heraion since antiquity due to the sanctuary dedicated to Hera located at the cape, from the ancient place-name 'Piraeus' or 'Perea'. 'Perea' is the abbreviation of the phrase 'perea land' and means 'opposite' land, the place beyond the sea, the name was probably used because the cape is located opposite the country of Corinth.
